October in the Chair
A Short story by neil gainman
Concept Statement:
October in the Chair is a supernatural short story written by English author Neil Gaiman.
Published in 2006 as part of Fragile Things, a compilation book of short stories and poems, the story follows the 12 months of the year as they gather around a campfire to tell stories.
This production seeks to not label a specific time or place but rather settle the characters into an earthy-ness which visually embodies the characteristics of the changing seasons.
Pulling from the descriptions that Gaiman lines out, each month pulls from the nature their identities, giving an almost “mythical” god-like embodiment to these characters.
Once the story within a story begins, a present day visual narrative is created with an almost sepia/vintage memory feel to the design.
